TOUCHING EARETH BODIES

TOUCHING EARETH BODIES

Touching Earth Bodies is a collaboration between Valerie Salez and Lindsay Delaronde, that explores the relationship between devastated environments, such as clearcuts, and the connection to abuse, exploitation and commodification of women’s bodies. An abused earth correlates with abused women’s bodies.

The process involved bringing a diversity group of BIPOC women to clearcuts on Vancouver Island where we collectively confronted our shared trauma as a process to grieve and heal with Mother Earth. We explored the our experiences of fierce strength / resilience and vulnerability / grief. Collectively we considered ongoing deforestation practices and the resulting environmental and social/cultural impacts.
