BEYOND THE RAVAGES OF
Beyond the ravages of grief, pain, and devastating loss at the hands of oppressive forces, corrupt capitalism, outdated patriarchy, and political power games, most of us find ourselves on our knees, crying out in protest, or both.
The plexiglass strip covering the woman’s body and clearcut old growth forest speaks to the façade of oppression. The thin blue lines point specifically to police brutality, psychological warfare, and systemic racism towards land defenders, women, BIPOC, and those who speak truth. I’ve ‘agitated’ the blue lines to visualize how collective action, personal protest, and standing up against authority, slowly begin to weaken the lines of oppression, division and, ultimately, of destruction.
